God's memory seems to be failing him
as He cleans house with Indian Ocean Tsunami's
Gulf Coast Hurricanes
Great acts he swore off in the New Testament
Maybe it’s His eyes
as He has missed the mark
He's never really released His finger from the trigger
of Old Testament type destruction
As His left hand holds an olive branch and
a promise of clear skies and doves
Perhaps that's why we claim to be made in His image
we personify His shadow side so well
always with an enemy to fear, eliminate and decimate
in Biblical fashion
Forgetting the old book once spoke of a old and pure garden
we stand in a new one, waving Peter’s sword
looking for an ear
Our aim is off as well
In a small town in New England
a girl, no more than three
dances in the woods with Lady Slippers
listens to Jack in the Pulpit
and leaps over Jacob's Ladder
Opening God's Bleeding Heart
that has grown closed and dry
flooding Him with memories of the peace
that prevails within a child’s innocence
God sighs and for that moment
A soldier leaves his chamber empty and
a disturbance off the coast of Africa weakens |
